An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the Inner West Council area in 2019/20 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing (940 million or 24.7%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (503 million or 13.2%)
- Wholesale Trade (381 million or 10.0%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 1,823 million in total or 48.0% of the total exports by industry in the the Inner West Council area.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Australia accounted for 17.3% in Manufacturing; 6.2% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services and 4.8% in Wholesale Trade.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of the Inner West Council area and Australia were:
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Mining (0.0% compared to 20.5%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (1.5% compared to 9.3%)
