Dominant groups
An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the Inner West Council area in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing (1,077 million or 27.0%)
- Wholesale Trade (481 million or 12.0%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (377 million or 9.4%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 1,934 million in total or 48.4% of the total exports by industry in the the Inner West Council area.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 15.7% in Manufacturing; 6.0% in Wholesale Trade and 9.2% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of the Inner West Council area and New South Wales were:
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (1.4% compared to 16.8%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (27.0% compared to 15.7%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Mining (0.0% compared to 6.3%)
