Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Inner West Council area in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($3,142 million or 32.4%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($970 million or 10.0%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing ($650 million or 6.7%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $4,762 million in total or 49.1% of the total imports by industry in the the Inner West Council area.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Greater Sydney accounted for 32.5% in Manufacturing; 7.7% in Financial and Insurance Services and 9.3% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.
The major differences between total imports by industries of the Inner West Council area and Greater Sydney were:
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (2.1% compared to 6.2%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (6.7% compared to 9.3%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Financial and Insurance Services (10.0% compared to 7.7%)
