An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Inner West Council area in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($2,534 million or 28.5%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($1,103 million or 12.4%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing ($883 million or 9.9%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $4,520 million in total or 50.8% of the total imports by industry in the the Inner West Council area.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Australia accounted for 31.1% in Manufacturing; 9.7% in Financial and Insurance Services and 6.6% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.
The major differences between total imports by industries of the Inner West Council area and Australia were:
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (2.3% compared to 6.6%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Mining (2.7% compared to 6.1%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (9.9% compared to 6.6%)
