Dominant groups

In 2011, there were 535 people in the local resident workers who caught public transport to work (train, bus, tram or ferry) in City of Launceston, compared with 20,519 who drove in private vehicles (car – as driver, car – as passenger, motorbike, or truck).

Analysis of the method of travel to work of the local labour force in the City of Launceston shows that 1.9% used public transport, while 72.5% used a private vehicle, compared with 5.3% and 68.8% respectively in Greater Hobart.

The major differences between the method of travel to work of the local labour force in the City of Launceston and Greater Hobart were:
