An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the City of Melbourne in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($20,482million or 20.9%)
- Construction ($13,742million or 14.0%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($13,088million or 13.3%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $47,313 million in total or 48.2% of the total local sales by total industry in the the City of Melbourne.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Greater Melbourne accounted for 9.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 22.7% in Construction and 5.9% in Financial and Insurance Services.
The major differences between local sales by industries of the City of Melbourne and Greater Melbourne were:
