Dominant groups
An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the City of Monash in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing (4,331 million or 31.7%)
- Wholesale Trade (2,379 million or 17.4%)
- Education and Training (1,973 million or 14.4%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 8,683 million in total or 63.5% of the total exports by industry in the the City of Monash.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Greater Melbourne accounted for 18.2% in Manufacturing; 6.8% in Wholesale Trade and 4.3% in Education and Training.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of the City of Monash and Greater Melbourne were:
- A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (31.7% compared to 18.2%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (1.1% compared to 14.2%)
