Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the City of Monash in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($4,035 million or 38.6%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing ($1,152 million or 11.0%)
- Public Administration and Safety ($932 million or 8.9%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $6,119 million in total or 58.5% of the total imports by industry in the the City of Monash.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Greater Melbourne accounted for 31.9% in Manufacturing; 9.2% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing and 6.4% in Public Administration and Safety.
The major differences between total imports by industries of the City of Monash and Greater Melbourne were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (38.6% compared to 31.9%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Financial and Insurance Services (4.3% compared to 7.6%)
