Dominant groups

Analysis of the hours worked by the workforce in the City of Monash in 2016 compared to Victoria shows that there was a lower proportion who worked part-time (34 hours or less) and a higher proportion who worked full-time (35 hours or more).

Overall, 33.7% of the workforce worked part-time (34 hours or less) , and 64.5% worked full-time (35 hours or more), compared with 37.0% and 61.0% respectively for Victoria.

The major differences between the hours worked by the in the City of Monash and Victoria were:

  • A larger percentage of local workers who worked 35 hours - 39 hours (20.7% compared to 18.7%)
  • A larger percentage of local workers who worked 40 hours (21.2% compared to 19.5%)
