City of Moreland
The City of Moreland is located in the inner-northern suburbs of Melbourne. The City encompasses a total land area of 51 square kilometres. The City of Moreland is predominantly residential, with substantial industrial and commercial areas. The main commercial areas are concentrated along Sydney Road in both Brunswick and Coburg, with smaller retail areas along Lygon Street in Brunswick East and around the railway station at Glenroy.
Key employment sectors in the City of Moreland include health care, retail trade, education and manufacturing. The main health care facilities in the City are Brunswick Private Hospital, John Fawkner Private Hospital and Dorset Rehabilitation Centre. The primary retail areas are located along Sydney Road and Lygon Street. Other retail areas include Barkly Square Shopping Centre, Coburg North Village Shopping Centre and Union Square Shopping Centre, small areas around the Glenroy and Oak Park railway stations, and small areas along Bonwick Street and Major Road in Fawkner, East Street and West Street in Hadfield, the intersection of Gaffney Street and Cumberland Road in Pascoe Vale, and the intersection of Bell Street and Melville Road in Pascoe Vale South. Educational facilities are provided at RMIT University (Brunswick Campus) and numerous schools. The City of Moreland contains numerous industrial areas, particularly in the suburbs of Brunswick and Coburg North.
