An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in Murchison Area in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:
- Mining ($835 million or 48.3%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($445 million or 25.8%)
- Manufacturing ($313 million or 18.1%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $1,593 million in total or 92.2% of the total exports by total industry in the Murchison Area.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 7.1% in Mining; 13.2% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; and 19.4% in Manufacturing.
The major differences between total exports by industries in the Murchison Area and Tasmania were:
- A larger percentage of total exports by Mining (48.3% compared to 7.1%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (25.8% compared to 13.2%)
