Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Murchison Area in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($604 million or 28.5%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($209 million or 9.9%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($174 million or 8.2%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $987 million in total or 46.7% of the total imports by total industry in the Murchison Area.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 32.1% in Manufacturing; 8.1% in Financial and Insurance Services; and 7.1% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between total imports by industries in the Murchison Area and Tasmania were:
