An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in West Coast Council area in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($152 million or 35.8%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($75 million or 17.8%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($33 million or 7.8%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $260 million in total or 61.3% of the total imports by total industry in West Coast Council area.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Greater Hobart accounted for 33.7% in Manufacturing; 7.7% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 7.2% in Financial and Insurance Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries in West Coast Council area and Greater Hobart were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (17.8% compared to 7.7%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (2.9% compared to 6.0%)
