An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Murchison Area in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:
- Construction (459 people or 29.1%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (186 people or 11.8%)
- Manufacturing (148 people or 9.4%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $792 million in total or 50.3% of the total local sales by total industry in the Murchison Area.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 18.9% in Construction; 4.8% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; and 7.5% in Manufacturing.
The major differences between local sales by industries in the Murchison Area and Tasmania were:
