An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the Northern Tasmania Region in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing (1,643 million or 28.3%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (1,182 million or 20.3%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (803 million or 13.8%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 3,628 million in total or 62.4% of the total exports by industry in the the Northern Tasmania Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 19.3% in Manufacturing; 15.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 13.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of the Northern Tasmania Region and Tasmania were:
- A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (28.3% compared to 19.3%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (20.3% compared to 15.4%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Public Administration and Safety (0.8% compared to 5.6%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services (1.0% compared to 4.4%)
The total total exports by industry in the Northern Tasmania Region $increased by 197 million between 2013/14 and 2018/19.
The largest changes in the total exports by industries between 2013/14 and 2018/19 in the Northern Tasmania Region were for:
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (+$447 million)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+$160 million)
- Information Media and Telecommunications (+$49 million)
- Other Services (+$44 million)
