Analysis of the field of qualifications in the Northern Midlands Council area shows that the three largest fields the resident workers (All industries) were qualified in were:
- Engineering and Related Technologies (584 people or 10.6%)
- Management and Commerce (480 people or 8.7%)
- Society and Culture (350 people or 6.4%)
