An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Northern Midlands Council area in 2019/20 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($280 million or 26.5%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance ($117 million or 11.0%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($111 million or 10.5%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $508 million in total or 48.0% of the total imports by total industry in Northern Midlands Council area.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Regional TAS accounted for 29.5% in Manufacturing; 8.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.7% in Financial and Insurance Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries in Northern Midlands Council area and Regional TAS were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (11.0% compared to 8.6%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Education and Training (4.8% compared to 2.8%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (26.5% compared to 29.5%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (2.9% compared to 5.8%)
