Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Dorset Council area in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($153 million or 26.1%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance ($77 million or 13.2%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($64 million or 10.9%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $294 million in total or 50.2% of the total imports by industry in the the Dorset Council area.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 29.4% in Manufacturing; 8.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 8.4% in Financial and Insurance Services.
