Analysis of the resident workers individual income levels in Flinders Council in 2016 compared to Australia shows that there was a lower proportion earning a high income (those earning $1,750 per week or more) and a higher proportion of low income persons (those earning less than $500 per week).
Overall, 11.5% of the resident workers earned a high income, and 23.0% earned a low income, compared with 19.2% and 17.7% respectively for Australia.
The major differences between the weekly income of the resident workers in Flinders Council and Australia were:
- A larger percentage of resident workers earned $1,000 - $1,249 (17.1% compared to 13.2%)
- A larger percentage of resident workers earned $400 - $499 (8.0% compared to 5.2%)
- A smaller percentage of resident workers earned $1,500 - $1,749 (5.2% compared to 8.1%)
- A smaller percentage of resident workers earned $2,000 - $2,999 (5.6% compared to 8.5%)
