An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the Northern Midlands Council area in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:
- Construction ($214million or 27.8%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($134million or 17.4%)
- Manufacturing ($80million or 10.5%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $429 million in total or 55.6% of the total local sales by total industry in the the Northern Midlands Council area.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 23.0% in Construction; 5.0% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 6.7% in Manufacturing.
