An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in NSROC Region in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:
- Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (17,438 people or 21.6%)
- Construction (13,905 people or 17.2%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (9,529 people or 11.8%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $40,872 million in total or 50.6% of the total local sales by total industry in the NSROC Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 20.8% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services; 17.1% in Construction; and 8.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between local sales by industries in the NSROC Region and New South Wales were:
- A larger percentage of local sales by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (11.8% compared to 8.3%)
- A larger percentage of local sales by Information Media and Telecommunications (6.1% compared to 3.0%)
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Manufacturing (4.2% compared to 5.9%)
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (2.6% compared to 4.2%)
The total local sales by industry in the NSROC Region increased by $6,421.0 million between 2012/13 and 2017/18.
The largest changes in the local sales by industries between 2012/13 and 2017/18 in the NSROC Region were for:
- Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (+$2,781 million)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+$1,667 million)
- Information Media and Telecommunications (+$1,098 million)
- Construction (-$959 million)
