Dominant groups
An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the City of Perth in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($6,610million or 17.0%)
- Mining ($6,470million or 16.7%)
- Construction ($5,843million or 15.0%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $18,923 million in total or 48.7% of the total local sales by total industry in the the City of Perth.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Greater Perth accounted for 8.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 4.6% in Mining and 23.8% in Construction.
The major differences between local sales by industries of the City of Perth and Greater Perth were:
- A larger percentage of local sales by Mining (16.7% compared to 4.6%)
- A larger percentage of local sales by Financial and Insurance Services (14.8% compared to 5.6%)
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Construction (15.0% compared to 23.8%)
