City of Playford
The City of Playford is located in Adelaide's outer northern suburbs. The City encompasses a total land area of 346 square kilometres. The City of Playford is a rural and growing urban area, with some industrial and commercial areas. Rural land is located mainly in the east, north and west, and is used largely for market gardens, orchards, vineyards, horse studs and hobby farms.
Key employment sectors in the City of Playford include manufacturing, health care, retail trade and education. The main industrial areas are located in the central areas; in the suburbs of Edinburgh North and Elizabeth South. Health care services are provided at Lyell McEwin Hospital (a major public hospital), with numerous aged care facilities in the area. The City’s major retail centres are Elizabeth City Centre and Munno Para Shopping City. Smaller retail centres include Angle Vale Shopping Centre, Craigmore Village Shopping Centre, Elizabeth Shopping Centre, Elizabeth East Shopping Centre, Elizabeth Grove Shopping Centre, Elizabeth North Shopping Centre, Elizabeth Rise Shopping Centre (Elizabeth Downs), Elizabeth South Shopping Centre, Elizabeth Vale Shopping Centre, Munno Para Shopping Centre, Smithfield Plains Shopping Centre and The Parks Shopping Centre (Elizabeth Park). The City is home to TAFE SA (Elizabeth Campus) and numerous primary and secondary schools.
