Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in City of Port Phillip in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($2,631 million or 37.7%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing ($906 million or 13.0%)
- Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services ($493 million or 7.1%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $4,030 million in total or 57.8% of the total imports by industry in the City of Port Phillip.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Greater Melbourne accounted for 31.9% in Manufacturing; 9.2% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing and 3.8% in Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries of City of Port Phillip and Greater Melbourne were:
