Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the Riverina and Murray Region in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction ($2,995million or 23.7%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($1,325million or 10.5%)
  • Manufacturing ($1,030million or 8.1%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $5,351 million in total or 42.3% of the total local sales by total industry in the the Riverina and Murray Region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Regional NSW accounted for 22.4% in Construction; 3.7% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 6.4% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between local sales by industries of the Riverina and Murray Region and Regional NSW were:

  • A larger percentage of local sales by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (10.5% compared to 3.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Mining (0.1% compared to 5.2%)
