In RDA BGLAP Region, Manufacturing had the largest total exports by industry, generating $1,175 million in 2022/23.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in RDA BGLAP Region in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing (1,175 million or 42.8%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (811 million or 29.5%)
  • Retail Trade (125 million or 4.6%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 2,111 million in total or 76.9% of the total exports by industry in the RDA BGLAP Region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Regional SA accounted for 25.4% in Manufacturing; 42.8% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 2.8% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of RDA BGLAP Region and Regional SA were:

  • A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (42.8% compared to 25.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (29.5% compared to 42.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Mining (2.2% compared to 14.1%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Retail Trade (4.6% compared to 2.8%)

The total total exports by industry in RDA BGLAP Region $increased by 64 million between 2008/09 and 2022/23.

The largest changes in the total exports by industries between 2008/09 and 2022/23 in RDA BGLAP Region were for:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (+$440 million)
  • Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services (+$77 million)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+$55 million)
  • Retail Trade (+$50 million)
