Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in RDA BGLAP Region in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($1,243 million or 26.0%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($439 million or 9.2%)
- Public Administration and Safety ($430 million or 9.0%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $2,111 million in total or 44.2% of the total imports by industry in the RDA BGLAP Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 29.7% in Manufacturing; 8.3% in Financial and Insurance Services and 7.1% in Public Administration and Safety.
The major differences between total imports by industries of RDA BGLAP Region and South Australia were:
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (26.0% compared to 29.7%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (8.0% compared to 6.1%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Public Administration and Safety (9.0% compared to 7.1%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (6.2% compared to 7.6%)

The total total imports by industry in RDA BGLAP Region increased by $488 million between 2019/20 and 2022/23.
The largest changes in the total imports by industries between 2019/20 and 2022/23 in RDA BGLAP Region were for:
- Manufacturing (+$143 million)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (+$97 million)
- Public Administration and Safety (+$51 million)
- Education and Training (+$44 million)
