In South West RED Region, there are more younger male workers (15 to 44 years) than older male workers (45 year and over) in the male resident workers .

Analysis of the male resident workers age structure of South West RED Region in 2016 compared to Transport, Postal and Warehousing shows that there was a higher proportion of males in the younger age groups (15 to 44 years) as well as a lower proportion of males in the older age groups (45 years and over).
Overall, 52.5% of the male resident workers was aged under 45 years, compared to 35.7% for Transport, Postal and Warehousing. 47.5% were aged 45 years and over, compared to 64.3% for Transport, Postal and Warehousing.
The major differences between the male resident workers age structure of South West RED Region and Transport, Postal and Warehousing were:
- A larger percentage of male resident workers aged 15 to 24 years (13.6% compared to 4.2%)
- A larger percentage of male resident workers aged 25 to 34 years (20.5% compared to 15.0%)

From 2011 to 2016, South West RED Region's male resident workers population decreased by 745 people (10.5%). This represents an average annual change of -2.2% per year over the period.
