South West RED Region
In South West RED Region, Mining had the largest total exports by industry, generating $869 million in 2017/18.

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in South West RED Region in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:
- Mining ($869 million or 41.1%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($760 million or 36.0%)
- Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services ($106 million or 5.0%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $1,735 million in total or 82.2% of the total exports by total industry in South West RED Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Regional QLD accounted for 37.0% in Mining; 11.3% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; and 4.1% in Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services.
The major differences between total exports by industries in South West RED Region and Regional QLD were:
- A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (36.0% compared to 11.3%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Mining (41.1% compared to 37.0%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (4.2% compared to 12.9%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Accommodation and Food Services (1.0% compared to 5.3%)
The total exports by industries in South West RED Region increased by $721.0 million between 2012/13 and 2017/18.
The largest changes in total exports by industries between 2012/13 and 2017/18 in South West RED Region were for:
- Mining (+$773 million)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (-$71 million)
