An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Southern Downs Regional Council area in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($717 million or 33.0%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($282 million or 13.0%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($216 million or 9.9%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $1,215 million in total or 56.0% of the total imports by industry in the the Southern Downs Regional Council area.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 35.1% in Manufacturing; 10.0% in Financial and Insurance Services and 6.5% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between total imports by industries of the Southern Downs Regional Council area and Queensland were:

  • A larger percentage of total imports by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (9.9% compared to 6.5%)
