An analysis of the domestic imports by industry sectors in RDA Darling Downs and South West Region in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:
- Financial and Insurance Services ($1,646 million or 16.9%)
- Manufacturing ($1,522 million or 15.7%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($1,069 million or 11.0%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $4,237 million in total or 43.6% of the total domestic import by total industry in the RDA Darling Downs and South West Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 14.2% in Financial and Insurance Services; 12.8% in Manufacturing; and 9.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between domestic imports by industries in the RDA Darling Downs and South West Region and Queensland were:
- A larger percentage of domestic imports by Manufacturing (15.7% compared to 12.8%)
- A larger percentage of domestic imports by Financial and Insurance Services (16.9% compared to 14.2%)
- A smaller percentage of domestic imports by Mining (-3.8% compared to 3.4%)
