Analysis of the resident workers individual income levels in the RDA Darling Downs and South West Region in 2016 compared to Queensland shows that there was a lower proportion earning a high income (those earning $1,750 per week or more) and a higher proportion of low income persons (those earning less than $500 per week).
Overall, 13.2% of the resident workers earned a high income, and 19.3% earned a low income, compared with 17.0% and 17.7% respectively for Queensland.
The major differences between the weekly income of the resident workers in the RDA Darling Downs and South West Region and Queensland were:

- A larger percentage of resident workers earned $500 - $649 (9.5% compared to 8.6%)
