Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the RDA Kimberley in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($1,017 million or 35.1%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($355 million or 12.3%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($307 million or 10.6%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $1,679 million in total or 58.0% of the total imports by industry in the the RDA Kimberley.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Regional WA accounted for 23.9% in Manufacturing; 10.6% in Financial and Insurance Services and 9.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries of the RDA Kimberley and Regional WA were:
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Mining (4.7% compared to 24.2%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (35.1% compared to 23.9%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Wholesale Trade (5.4% compared to 3.6%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (7.3% compared to 5.4%)

The largest changes in the total imports by industries between 2008/09 and 2022/23 in the RDA Kimberley were for:
- Financial and Insurance Services (+$43 million)
- Information Media and Telecommunications (+$42 million)
- Public Administration and Safety (+$41 million)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+$31 million)
