Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the Limestone Coast region in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (1,577 million or 49.0%)
  • Manufacturing (962 million or 29.9%)
  • Retail Trade (118 million or 3.7%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 2,657 million in total or 82.5% of the total exports by industry in the the Limestone Coast region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 9.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 18.6% in Manufacturing and 4.1% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of the Limestone Coast region and South Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (49.0% compared to 9.4%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (29.9% compared to 18.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Health Care and Social Assistance (1.4% compared to 9.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (0.5% compared to 8.4%)
