Dominant groups

Analysis of the jobs held by the resident workforce in the Limestone Coast region in 2021shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (5,517 people or 17.5%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,952 people or 12.5%)
  • Manufacturing (3,510 people or 11.1%)

In combination these three industries employed 12,979 people in total or 41.2% of the total resident workforce.

In comparison, Regional SA employed 14.0% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 13.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 9.0% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the resident workforce of the Limestone Coast region and Regional SA were:

  • A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (17.5% compared to 14.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of resident workforce employed in Mining (0.5% compared to 2.8%)
  • A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Manufacturing (11.1% compared to 9.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of resident workforce employed in Administrative and Support Services (2.5% compared to 3.5%)

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident workforce between 2016 and 2021 in the Limestone Coast region were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+700 resident workforce)
  • Construction (+403 resident workforce)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (+221 resident workforce)
