Value added by industry is an indicator of business productivity in the City of Palmerston LGA. It shows how productive each industry sector is at increasing the value of its inputs. Dominant groups
An analysis of the valued added by industry sectors in the City of Palmerston LGA in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:

- Education and Training (165 million or 12.7%)
- Public Administration and Safety (144 million or 11.1%)
