RDA Sunshine Coast Region
The RDA Sunshine Coast Region is located in south-east Queensland. The RDA Sunshine Coast Region encompasses a total land area of over 3,100 square kilometres, including significant beaches, coastline, waterways, national parks, state forests and bushland. The RDA Sunshine Coast Region is a rapidly growing residential and tourist area, with substantial rural, rural-residential and parkland areas. The Region includes coastal urban centres and inland towns. Tourism is a major industry, with many resorts and holiday accommodation places. Much of the rural area is used for dairy farming, cattle grazing and crop growing.
Key employment sectors in the RDA Sunshine Coast Region include health care, retail trade, accommodation and food services and education. The main public health care facilities are Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Maleny Soldiers Memorial Hospital and Nambour General Hospital, with private health care facilities at Buderim Private Hospital, Caloundra Private Clinic, Eden Private Hospital in Cooroy, Kawana Private Hospital, Nambour Selangor Private Hospital and Noosa Hospital, and a smaller public health facility at Caloundra Health Service. The main retail areas are located in the suburbs of Buddina, Caloundra, Maroochydore, Nambour, Noosa Heads, Noosaville and Sippy Downs. These include Bay Village Noosa, Big Top Shopping Centre, Chancellor Park Marketplace, Kawana Shoppingworld, Nambour Plaza Shopping Centre, Noosa Civic, Noosa Fair Shopping Centre, Noosa Junction Plaza, Noosa Marina, Noosa Village, Stockland Caloundra Shopping Centre, Westfield Sunshine Plaza Shopping Centre and the Hastings Street commercial area in Noosa Heads. Smaller retail areas are located in the suburbs and townships of Beerwah, Bli Bli, Buderim, Coolum Beach, Cooroy, Currimundi, Eumundi, Landsborough, Maleny, Marcoola, Mooloolaba, Pelican Waters, Peregian Springs, Tewantin and Yandina, as well as the Eumundi Markets. Bulky goods shopping areas are located at Home Central Kawana in Birtinya, Maroochydore Homemaker Centre and Noosa Homemaker Centre in Noosaville. Tourism is a major industry, with numerous attractions, national parks, beaches, lakes, rivers, golf courses, wineries, resorts and holiday accommodation places. Educational facilities are provided at CQUniversity (Noosa Campus), Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE (Maroochydore, Mooloolaba and Nambour Campuses), University of the Sunshine Coast (Sippy Downs Campus), Sunshine Coast Health Institute and numerous schools.
