Dominant groups
An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Greater Sydney in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Construction ($117,759million or 21.1%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($62,148million or 11.1%)
- Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services ($58,980million or 10.6%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $238,887 million in total or 42.9% of the total local sales by total industry in the Greater Sydney.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 21.4% in Construction; 9.4% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services and 9.3% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services.
The major differences between local sales by industries of Greater Sydney and New South Wales were:
- A larger percentage of local sales by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (11.1% compared to 9.4%)
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Mining (0.3% compared to 1.7%)
