An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in Whyalla District in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($580 million or 61.6%)
  • Mining ($228 million or 24.2%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing ($30 million or 3.2%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $837 million in total or 89.0% of the total exports by total industry in Whyalla District.
