An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in Whyalla District in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($580 million or 61.6%)
- Mining ($228 million or 24.2%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing ($30 million or 3.2%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $837 million in total or 89.0% of the total exports by total industry in Whyalla District.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Regional SA accounted for 27.3% in Manufacturing; 14.0% in Mining; and 4.0% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.
