An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in RDA Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula Region in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:
- Construction (525 people or 18.2%)
- Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (347 people or 12.0%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (249 people or 8.6%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $1,121 million in total or 38.8% of the total local sales by total industry in the RDA Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in District Council of Franklin Harbour accounted for 60.5% in Construction; 1.2% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services; and 2.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
The major differences between local sales by industries in the RDA Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula Region and District Council of Franklin Harbour were:
- A larger percentage of local sales by Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (12.0% compared to 1.2%)
- A larger percentage of local sales by Health Care and Social Assistance (8.6% compared to 2.7%)
- A larger percentage of local sales by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (5.6% compared to 2.0%)
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Construction (18.2% compared to 60.5%)
