Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in Mid North Region in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (479 million or 50.3%)
  • Manufacturing (267 million or 28.1%)
  • Wholesale Trade (44 million or 4.7%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 791 million in total or 83.1% of the total exports by industry in the Mid North Region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 9.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 18.6% in Manufacturing and 5.5% in Wholesale Trade.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of Mid North Region and South Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (50.3% compared to 9.4%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (28.1% compared to 18.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Health Care and Social Assistance (0.6% compared to 9.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (0.5% compared to 8.4%)

The total total exports by industry in Mid North Region $decreased by -88 million between 2013/14 and 2018/19.

The largest changes in the total exports by industries between 2013/14 and 2018/19 in Mid North Region were for:

  • Manufacturing (+$25 million)
  • Wholesale Trade (+$23 million)
  • Education and Training (+$10 million)
  • Other Services (+$5 million)
