An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in Southern Flinders Region in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($456 million or 41.9%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($262 million or 24.0%)
- Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services ($149 million or 13.7%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $867 million in total or 79.7% of the total exports by total industry in Southern Flinders Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Regional SA accounted for 27.3% in Manufacturing; 33.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; and 4.2% in Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services.
The major differences between total exports by industries in Southern Flinders Region and Regional SA were:
- A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (41.9% compared to 27.3%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services (13.7% compared to 4.2%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Mining (0.5% compared to 14.0%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (24.0% compared to 33.4%)
