An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Southern Flinders Region in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($594 million or 27.6%)
- Mining ($329 million or 15.3%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($189 million or 8.8%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $1,112 million in total or 51.6% of the total imports by industry in the Southern Flinders Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 29.9% in Manufacturing; 3.6% in Mining and 10.8% in Financial and Insurance Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries of Southern Flinders Region and South Australia were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Mining (15.3% compared to 3.6%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (4.5% compared to 7.0%)
