Dominant groups
An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Port Pirie Regional Council area in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance ($139million or 18.1%)
- Construction ($108million or 14.1%)
- Retail Trade ($57million or 7.5%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $304 million in total or 39.7% of the total local sales by total industry in the Port Pirie Regional Council area.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 7.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 22.8% in Construction and 4.3% in Retail Trade.
The major differences between local sales by industries of Port Pirie Regional Council area and South Australia were:
