Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Mid North Region in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction (184 people or 16.7%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (163 people or 14.8%)
  • Manufacturing (82 people or 7.5%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $428 million in total or 39.0% of the total local sales by total industry in Mid North Region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Regional SA accounted for 23.4% in Construction; 7.0% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; and 6.2% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between local sales by industries in Mid North Region and Regional SA were:

  • A larger percentage of local sales by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (14.8% compared to 7.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Construction (16.7% compared to 23.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (6.2% compared to 10.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Mining (0.2% compared to 4.2%)

Emerging groups

The total local sales by industry in Mid North Region increased by $21.7 million between 2012/13 and 2017/18.

The largest change in local sales by industries between 2012/13 and 2017/18 in Mid North Region was for:

  • Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services (-$53 million)
