Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Mid North Region in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction ($215million or 19.0%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($192million or 16.9%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance ($101million or 8.9%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $508 million in total or 44.7% of the total local sales by total industry in the Mid North Region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 22.8% in Construction; 2.7% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 7.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between local sales by industries of Mid North Region and South Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of local sales by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (16.9% compared to 2.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (4.9% compared to 12.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Construction (19.0% compared to 22.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (3.2% compared to 6.6%)
