An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Mid North Region in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:
- Construction ($355million or 27.4%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($204million or 15.7%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance ($103million or 7.9%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $662 million in total or 51.1% of the total local sales by total industry in the Mid North Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 22.9% in Construction; 2.1% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 7.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
The major differences between local sales by industries of Mid North Region and South Australia were:
- A larger percentage of local sales by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (15.7% compared to 2.1%)
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (2.8% compared to 10.7%)
- A larger percentage of local sales by Construction (27.4% compared to 22.9%)
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (2.8% compared to 6.8%)
The total local sales by industry in Mid North Region $increased by 152 million between 2014/15 and 2019/20.
The largest changes in the local sales by industries between 2014/15 and 2019/20 in Mid North Region were for:
- Construction (+$173 million)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (-$112 million)
- Financial and Insurance Services (+$29 million)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+$25 million)
