Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Southern Downs Regional Council in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($826 million or 29.7%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($297 million or 10.7%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($245 million or 8.8%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $1,368 million in total or 49.2% of the total imports by industry in the the Southern Downs Regional Council.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 33.3% in Manufacturing; 7.7% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services and 8.3% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between total imports by industries of the Southern Downs Regional Council and Queensland were:
