Analysis of the jobs held by the resident workforce in the Southern Downs Regional Council in 2021shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,065 people or 13.8%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (1,965 people or 13.1%)
  • Retail Trade (1,622 people or 10.8%)

In combination these three industries employed 5,652 people in total or 37.7% of the total resident workforce.

In comparison, Regional QLD employed 15.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 4.3% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 9.6% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the resident workforce of the Southern Downs Regional Council and Regional QLD were:

  • A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (13.1% compared to 4.3%)
