An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the Southern Downs Regional Council in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction ($1,422million or 43.3%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($233million or 7.1%)
  • Manufacturing ($213million or 6.5%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $1,868 million in total or 56.9% of the total local sales by total industry in the the Southern Downs Regional Council.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 20.2% in Construction; 1.9% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 7.7% in Manufacturing.
