Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in Sunshine Coast in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing (1,300 million or 17.6%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (1,046 million or 14.1%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (750 million or 10.1%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 3,097 million in total or 41.9% of the total exports by industry in the Sunshine Coast.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Regional QLD accounted for 11.8% in Manufacturing; 1.1% in Financial and Insurance Services and 2.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of Sunshine Coast and Regional QLD were:

  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Mining (9.0% compared to 49.2%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (14.1% compared to 1.1%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Health Care and Social Assistance (10.1% compared to 2.3%)
